Every Halloween I try and make a cute themed cake to celebrate the most Goolish day of the year! I remember seeing this cute cake on Pinterest and knew right away, this was the cake I was making for Halloween this year. Being a novice at cake decorating, I didn’t want to pick anything over my head, but wanted it to be cute, and something anyone could make.
I would advise against rushing when making this cake. I made the cake at the last minute and frosted it when I thought it was cool enough. When I frosted the cake, it looked like the frosting was bulging out of the layers. I had never had that happen before, so I think it was because the cake wasn’t entirely cool and softened the frosting some. Not to worry though, the cake was only for me, and it looked OK in the end. The total story of my life…rush, rush, rush!
I made three 6″ round cakes, and stacked them. I put three wooden skewers in all three layers so the layers wouldn’t slide. I frosted the cake and decorated! Even the most novice cook can do this!
I made a regular white boxed cake mix, and whipped up a batch of my frosting, got my decorating candies ready to go, and the rest is a breeze. I use candy corn to make the flowers, Junior Mints for centers, and Americolor Super Black Gel Paste Food Coloring for the dot design.
If you want a true black using very little coloring and no change in the taste of your frosting, Americolor Super Black Gel Paste Food Coloring is the perfect answer!
This is one of the easiest cakes you can make!
Happy Halloween!
