Deep Frying Food

Let’s face it…deep frying food is not the most healthy. But sometimes you just want those fresh cut fries or chicken wings. There’s nothing messier than frying on your stove top. Until now………….
There are few things I deep fry. And no matter what anyone says the air fryer (which I have never been a total fan of) does not do the same job as deep frying. I have bought two air fryer’s, tried them, and returned them. French fries most definitely are not the same as deep frying fresh ones.

A deep fryer is great for beer battered fish, fresh cut french fries, authentic fried chicken and the copycat Outback “Kookaburra” wings that hubby loves. Those wings come out exactly like Outback’s. But you can’t bake them or air fry them. You have to deep fry them. End of story.

So I decided to look for a deep fryer. I had one once before a T Fal one. I thought the separate oil keeper was a good idea until it leaked all over one day. Needless to say I threw it out.

I saw this Breville one. It’s called the “Smart Fryer”. I am a Breville fan, having to have had a convection counter top oven for years, and now have a newer one that’s even bigger with more functions. My new oven has a “proofer” function which I use all the time to proof dough for bread. I also replaced my Cuisinart food processor with a Breville one and I LOVE it!

So, I decided after looking at the reviews on many to get a Breville deep fryer. This thing is awesome! It’s already programmed with the times and temperatures for different foods. Twice fried french fries, french fries, donuts, fish, chicken, wings, you name it. Most naturally you can do your own thing as well. It’s got a 4 quart capacity. The powerful 1800W heating element reflects heat upward, creating a protective cool zone underneath that traps oil and food debris, keeping the cooking zone more clean, preventing excess burning and extending oil life. It’s got fresh and frozen settings.

It breaks down for cleaning easily. If you do any deep frying, this is the fryer you want.

I made french fries the other night and hand cut them. They came out great, but were unevenly sized. Now I am in the market for a french fry cutter. I realize all of the french fries will not be uniform because the potato is round, but at least the majority will cook the same.

I can’t wait to try the Kookaburra wings in this new fryer.

I would give this deep fryer 5 STARS, and if it’s anything like any of my other Breville products, will last forever!
