GADGETS I CAN’T COOK WITHOUT!
I’ve bought a LOT of gadgets in the years and years I have been cooking. Some were a waste of money, some were great but something I didn’t use very often and some I can’t live without. The items below are definitely ones that I cant cook without!
If you make as many apple pies and crisps as I do, you can’t live without this Apple/Corer/Slicer tool. You can peel, core and slice 10 apple in minutes. Literally! (I use a Pampered Chef one that I bought years and years ago and it still works to perfection). This one will do the job just as good at much less cost!
2. COOKIE PRESS
There is no other way to make pressed cookies! This cookie press is easy to use. Just press with one click of the handle for each cookie. Makes a ton of cookies from one batch!
I cannot make meatballs in anything else but this roaster! Temperatures ranges from 200 degrees F to 450 degrees F. Generous 6 quart size is perfect for a crown or make smaller amounts for just 2 people. Your meatballs don’t burn on the bottom as they go on the stove, or take forever as they do in the crock pot. I use this for soups, stews, meatballs, you can even make a meatloaf in this! For me, I couldn’t live without this appliance! I have two of them.
I make a lot of chicken piccata, so I juice quite a lot of lemons. I have an electric juicer, and all kinds of other gadgets for juicing citrus. There is one gadget I go for over all of them. The wooden citrus reamer. It’s handy, gets all the juice from the fruit, and nothing to store, unlike the electric juicer. I like reamers that do not have a sharp point at the end like some of them do. The sharp end can poke through the fruit and end up in the palm of your hand. You can beat the cost of one of these and you will find they are invaluable in the kitchen.
From checking the internal temperature of meat, oil, baked lasagna, roasts, meatballs, literally anything you want to know the internal temperature of, these instant read thermometers are a must. When I bought mine (and this was years ago) the only game in town was Thermoworks and it sold for approx. $100.00. Now those same ones are $150.00! Luckily times have changed and there are loads of manufacturers out there so the prices of one have come down considerably. Like $15.00! For $15.00 I would suggest you get one of these thermometers and learn to use them them on all your meats especially. There’s nothing worse than ruining your roast because you thought it was done but it wasn’t. I could not cook without one!
